Ma'ale Akrabim, the Scorpions' Ascent, is a steep, winding old road climbing from the Arava toward the Negev highlands, mentioned in the Torah as a border of the land. The views over the desert from its curves are dramatic. The road is narrow and without guardrails in places, so drive with great care.

Tip: Stop at the lookout at the top rather than pulling over on the curves.
